Traditional "Choose One" elections work fine if there are only two candidates in the race, but when elections are actually competitive they just don't cut it. We want robust, fair, and accurate elections that allow good candidates to step up and run issue oriented campaigns. We also want to empower voters to vote their conscience without having to worry about whether or not their favorite is electable or whether they should consider voting for the lesser of two evils. Long story short we can do a lot better!
Fair and representative elections are at the root of everything we do. In order to be effective at anything else we need to be able to make collective decisions and hold each other accountable. Our democratic republic, and the choose one voting method in particular, leaves a lot to be desired, but at the same time, our democratic process gives us the tools we need to make it into something better. We call on our nation to continue to improve, to celebrate and encourage leadership, and to become the model we want to be. At the Equal Vote Coalition our five pillars for voting reform are that elections should be Equal, Accurate, Honest, Expressive, and Simple. We recommend STAR Voting, Ranked Robin, Approval Voting, and other voting methods that uphold these principles. We invite all of you reading this you to join us in our fight for fair and equal elections.
