As a teacher, I have spent my career helping young people understand the importance of civic engagement, responsible citizenship and the institutions that hold our democracy together. I support the constitutional principles of checks and balances because they protect the freedoms, liberties and opportunities that define our nation. Public trust in our elections is essential. Trust is built when elections are conducted according to the rule of law in a transparent, secure and unbiased manner. I believe every eligible voter deserves confidence that their vote will be counted fairly and accurately. That is why I am guided by the Principles for Trusted Elections, which emphasize integrity, nonviolence, secure voting, responsible oversight and trusted outcomes.
